Africalia is an initiative by the Belgian Development Cooperation. It aims to promote sustainable human development through supporting the arts and contemporary African artistic expressions.

Based on this premise, Africalia supports and associates itself with artistic partners in Africa in multiple disciplines, from performing arts to visual arts. In Belgium, Africalia runs awareness campaigns with the aim of attracting the public's attention to contemporary African art and artistic expressions, by co-organizing cultural events.
